hello show & tell friends! this weekend our local humane society is hosting a fund-raiser. and i like to support them when i can with unique baubles for their silent auction. that being said i wanted something different this time so i whipped up a charm necklace in honor of my own rescue girl...lucy...to show an example of what the lucky winner will get! it turned out pretty darn fun {below}...full of sentiment & silliness! just like her!
we adopted lucy...otherwise know as louie...over {5} years ago. it really seems like yesterday that we made the 4 hour journey (one way!) to the shelter in sioux city, iowa. i found lucy online {1} evening thru petfinder. all i saw of her was a head shot & knew immediately that she would be our girl. i could see in her eyes she was terrified. she needed a home & we just happened to have one available!
she has adjusted wonderfully. here she is below bounding thru the fields around our home...
i'd also like to mention our first girl...sadie. who also had a nickname. it was sadie monster. and it fit her well!
these two dals are like night and day. sadie was crazy! bouncing off the walls + visitors. lucy...not so much. she is more like "yellow dog" from the old chevy chase movie, funny farm. a bit fluffy. a tad lazy...and shy. but we love them for entirely different personalities.
sadie brightened our lives....so i had to assemble a charm necklace in her honor {below}. i just got in the fab dog angel charm. the back reads perfect angel. (who are we kidding!?) the bone features her may birthstone. & the heart represents our furever love for her. we miss her dearly but her memory lives on.
there's alot of love to be had in a rescue animal. i think they have a sense about the situation @ hand. it's a win-win for everyone involved. so if you are looking to add a new member to your family be sure to consider adopting a pet in need! chances are pretty good you'll be wondering who rescued who!
make it a great day!
