monkey see...monkey do! {color outside the lines}

hello show & tell friends! welcome to a little monkey see...monkey do! where i find inspiration from something i have seen then do my own spin!

a staple you will find @ patinaWHITE would be a line of black & white box signs. their sayings are sometimes sentimental...sometimes silly & they always make a great accent! anywho..a personal favorite would be this one {below}.

and it's a favorite because i like to think beyond ordinary! so...i was looking for a way to pronounce that quip on ones self. and though i prefer chunky jewelery - the thought of a box sign hanging around my neck was even too much for me! 

so i stamped up a sterling silver blank purposely pushing the words to creep off the edges. remember...outside the lines here. i was tickled with how it turned out. it's quirky imperfection seemed just right!

there are some more "colorful" goods i wanted to show off now too! these leather wrap bracelets are hot off the hands of my UPS driver. there is a plethora of colors in addition to a variety of inspirational verses /words to delight everyone! and they are a one size fits all! wear one or many...you choose!

this random spattering of license plate snippets {below} are on the docket to be recreated into some whimsical wordy wall art...say that one {10} times over!

a rustic metal cross is highlighted with some colorful accents {below}. i paired it with a silky cord to soften the look...then lariated it for an offbeat way to wear! 

moving on to some home decor...these cast iron doorplates {below} with integrated key hangers would be a fantastic way to hang your coat...hat or keys. a colorful way to be organized!

jumping back to jewelry...i love Love LOVE this new cluster necklace {below}. she will soon make an appearance @ shady hollow.  always have been a fan of religious relics...and the mixture of bright stone accents gives it a contemporary POP!

so even though my favorite color {or lack thereof} is white...i still appreciate a colorful way to express yourself. plus remember...those lines are simply there to guide you. there is not a thing wrong with coloring beyond them. you will be glad you did!

proud mama

hello everyone!

as the week comes to a close i have a little bit of this and that to share with you! some collected...some created...but all relating to proud mamas everywhere!

flashback memorial weekend. a very sweet booth was setup @ shady hollow adjacent to my cottage. and the purveyor of the thoughtfully crafted wares was miss cassie. just have a gander at some of her creations {below}.

onsies and headbands so darn cute i had to get one for an expectant girlfriend of mine. and knowing the baby on the way was a girl i ordered a star {of course}. but i tell ya..if i had a baby boy or knew of one making an appearance...that one with the skull and crossbone tie would be without a doubt my top choice. i wonder how my cabbage patch kid would look in it? maybe she makes xxlarge sizes...i could always outfit my "big boy"!

but back to the star...here {below} is what she lovingly created for my gift...

and i happily wrapped up {below} to go to it's new proud mama to be...

and just so the baby doesn't have all the fun...proud mamas everywhere can now exclaim their love of family with patinaWHITE's new collage charm {below} that works splendid with either the bubble initials i showed you a couple posts back...or bubble numbers to represent the number of kiddos in your flock! i also added some sparkly gems for the birthstones! wear it proud...

not tonight dear...

hello show & tell friends! my day @ the flea this past sunday was cut a little short due to the extreme heat wave we are experiencing. and it wasn't just the heat...it's the air so thick with humidity you need gills to breathe!

so after i was packed up and on the way back to the homefront...i took a quick turn into the local antique mall to cool off in the air conditioned comfort and peruse the wares. i gave myself firm instructions...not tonight dear...words i seldom speak. {while junkin' that is!} reminding myself i was to only look & not bring home anymore "treasures" @ this time.

well my wanting urges began to kick within moments of stepping for int the door...so i thought i would take pictures as keepsakes. admiring them in their one dimensional glory @ another date. have a peek {below}.

#1. cricket container...brought back memories of childhood in nebraska. and searching out the musically inclined insects around the farm. boy this little contraption would have come in handy! 

#2. i have tried on this necklace so many times that i really do feel like i own it. maybe one of these times i will actually spring for it. give a hoot...

#3. be still my heart. a GIANT black metal cabinet. industrial qualities plus drawers w/ label bins. after walking around it like a tiger stalking her prey...i did ultimately "pounce". now...i just need to sweet talk hubby into a bringing her home. guess i won't be playing the not tonight card this time!

#4. this fan wasn't priced. and i wasn't going to ask. because i thought it was so darn "cool" that i would have found it hard to practice restraint. moving on...

#5. ammo tote. black weathered wood + galvanized accents. this piece really did call out my name...more than once. but i was not about to give in...again.

#6. anything retro graphic driven catches my eye. or perhaps it was the thought of cool...crisp...refreshing on this blistering hot day. 

#7. never in all my days on earth have i seen a globe of the constellations. there is a mate of the world too. if it wasn't priced out my budget i likely would have folded. but not tonight...remember??

that's just a little sampler. there was more. much more. and officially i didn't leave with one thing in tow. a purchase made to pick up later but i don't think that counts. because not tonight dear doesn't mean i will "hold out" forever. especially when i have to call out favors of a certain loved one with truck and trailer to assist me.

i spy w/ my little eye...

hey everyone! remember playing that game as a youngster? or maybe it still gets you + the family thru a long road trip. those words rang true yesterday as i was painting up some more stock of patinaWHITE's rustic wood letters {below}

 ... i spy with my little eye....something beginning with B.  and if  you peek @ the picture {below} i think you will see what i saw.

and spotting this tiny Bug made me say "HEY!...i have seen this guy before!" it just so happens that i picked up what i thought was an interesting boot "jack" or puller not too long ago @ my local flea. do you see the resemblance in the cast iron likeness {below}?

all this talk of eye & spying seems like an opportune time to show ya a great new item i have @ the hollow. these wood box signs are made right here in the good 'ol USA to resemble eye charts. and if you study the specimen {below} it has a fun verse to share. squint hard for the bottom line. or click to enlarge.

living a charmed life

hello everyone! as i have been putting together some necklace ideas for a "shady sunday"...i was lovin' them so much i had to show 'em off.

these tiny double sided initials {below} & sentiments are as sweet as candy. and look just as great in mommy clusters as they do w/ a random mix-up of charms. you will want to eat them up!

case in point..note the wire flower cluster {below} with the candy initial accent. i told you they were "sweet"! the other combos are pretty darn cute too...

new on the home-front would be these diminutive bubble dot initials {below}. with a vintage type font on the front with a whimsical variation on the reverse. you decide how you want to show it off!

another little combo {below} that i thought was simple and to the point. love the earthy hues...

pucker up you pup fans. an always favorite saying {below} is combined with some touching accents. s.w.a.k.!

live the life you love~love the life you live. another favorite quote can be found front + back on the slim glass collage charm {below}...and the hand-forged "chiclet" added a subtle pop of color. i {heart} this combo too!

what i wore...heavy metal

hey everyone! time for a little{what i wore} spread! i love to mix materials in all aspects of my world. not only in how i decorate but also how i dress! and a favorite combo would have to be that of rugged industrial pieces + softly romantic accents. so here's how things came together the other day...

since i don't own a skirt {or dress for that matter}...my version of girly-girl garb would be lacey...ruffled adorned tops. i layered them w/ a "studly" pair of jeans. more layers came into play around my neck + my wrist. not a good ensemble for going thru airport security...but worked for my lunch date!

anywho...back to the heavy metal. the longest necklace is a patinaWHITE favorite. so much so that i only have a few left after the hustle & bustle of the 4th of july holiday weekend now behind us. and my wrist is outfitted with not one...or two but three bracelets. from the left is my treasured recycled "extinguisher" cuff. then a new arrival to p.white was the burnished gold & blinged out number...the third happens to be a thrift store score from years past. 

i was rockin' the metal and you can too! because...my pearly rhinestone ring necklace has a lil' sister that just arrived! check her out {below}

and i am tickled to have scored a few more one of kind upcycled cuffs from my talented friend who amazes me with every creation he does! to wet your whistle...{here below}
