greetings! i figure after the last post i better update that things are on an upswing! not that i was swinging all that low. but when you're feelin' a bit punky then your "kid" goes and takes off on ya...i won't lie when i say i felt a little blue.
but today finds me feeling much much better. thank you for the notes of encouragement + remedies! they were a big factor in the healing process. {both emotional + physical}! i appreciate the shared excitement and i am looking forward to the road ahead!
i'm considering writing a book...things my duck taught me. {giggle}. but i must say that MJ has opened my eyes and changed my gears a bit. even my sis commented that i was "more relaxed" this year when she visited. and knowing that some change does a person good...i thought it was fitting to show a necklace i recently made {below}.
on the topic of MJ...once again...i have to update those of you interested in the ongoing tale of our feathered friend. last time i checked in...she had flown the coop. literally. she took off @ 7:00am. forcing me to face the fact that she may not return. but i seldom give up hope easily. so come that eve....i grabbed my blanket and sat in the yard by her little pool. the autumn like evening was coming to a close {as shown below}...
...and after nearly 1.5 hours of waiting...distracting myself w/ wandering thoughts & by taking pictures....i was startled by the flutter of wings overhead. couldn't believe it. she was BACK! after nearly 14 hours of being away she came home! she was tired & hungry. must have been a day full of adventure. she hustled over to the garage to nibble on some corn & then took her perch on the step.
the next morning i hesitantly opened the garage door. this time she followed hubby and i around the yard briefly. then off she shot thru the trees once again. i looked @ him and stated "we'll see what happens tonight." so at 8 o'clock i headed back to the same spot. with my blanket and high hopes. i didn't have to wait long. because 20 minutes in this time she returned yet again. landing by me. hubby joined us within moments of her arrival. and she proceeded to hop on his arm {peek below}. i imagine he's somewhat of a mighty oak in her eyes!
her returns...as brief as they are...did put me more @ peace during her absence. so i decided a "peace project" was in order. license plate snippets? that sounds good! it was then that my memory was jogged that i actually had already started the process of new license plate necklaces ages ago. and tabled it for some reason that i can't remember. regardless...now i have PEACE in addition to the others {shown below}
the other step involved in making these bits & pieces into a finished design involves me typing a complimentary verse for each word. i found an artist quip last night that i loved. and pecked away on my relic ROYAL typewriter...quoting queen victoria {below}
you've gotta keep an eye on those artist folks! and for me...i will be keeping an eye out for that lil duck of mine once again this evening. she's much like a typical teenager these days. off @ the crack of dawn and back late at night. keeping me watching and waiting. only to discover that rather than "talk"...she really just wants to eat and go to bed.
and since i feel like i have rambled beyond what many of you can take. i will check back in again tomorrow. mostly because i want to give you the facts on my last {3} days @ shady hollow this holiday weekend.
so i will be back....soon! and hope MJ follows suit. even though i know that the visit will be short....i will be patiently waiting on the blanket outside! wondering if she will be breaking curfews or bringing home rowdy friends she has made! silly duck...
til tomorrow my friends...
