why hello there! before i launch into my expected wordiness for today...i would like to send out a great BIG thank you to everyone who took the time to send a note / comment my way regarding the fleaMARKETstyle magazine feature i was honored to be a part of.
i am touched by how many of you come to my little corner of the world. and it brought a smile to my face when sweet becca referenced my blog as an "online portal of beauty, happiness, charm and inspiration". again...i'd like to thank & welcome you...friends past, present and future!
ok. on with the show! yep. here we are...northern minnesota. and fall...itsa coming! case in point...a very showy maple i spied the other day {seen below}
this grand spectacle got me in a harvest state of mind...so i called my pumpkin fella. who's normally early on the pumpkin wagon himself. i think caught him off guard w/ my request to dig thru the patches already. but after this many years he understands i am not easily detoured. so i packed up the bogs, snippers + buckets and off i went.
not really knowing what to expect i was able to find some of the unique varieties of pumpkins he has been kind enough to grow in recent years. got my hands on a few precious blues...some whites and a handful armful of the very elusive peanut pumpkins. he was pretty proud that his "peanut" vines even produced these oddities this year. last year he had {3}. have a peek below @ the start of pumpks circa 2012 {below}
wouldn't be pumpkin season without my baskets full of baby boos. my schwinn has been waiting and presently has her fall "gear" on! {she's below}
on my way home from the patch...i took a little time to drive slower. and took note that the ditches full of the small yellow wildflowers were quite beautiful. wouldn't you agree?? {see for yourself below}
and before i take one more breath...the topic of flowers makes me remember to express my gratitude to our wonderful local greenhouse - BERGENS {say hello HERE}
i am sharing another shot from the FMS article {below} of what their generosity provided. i am doing so because without them we couldn't have created that "fall feeling" in the early part of may!
thanks bergen's gang...you are the best! i will be looking to them for more fall decorating with kale and other seasonal delights coming about. and then sharing with you when that happens!
another tell tale sign that fall is in the air. the birds are starting to fly south. ok. that's not entirely true. it's more like MJ...our resident "stray" wood duck i've been raising for nearly {3} months...is honing in her flight skills. and the other day i spotted a new piece of "luggage" on the rack atop my truck!
since i mentioned ducks...i'll be crying "foul" @ patinaWHITE this sunday. thanks to a new addition to the coop. he's pretty cute in his rusty quirky charm {peek below}. and outfitted like a king in his crowning baby boo!
...it's never too late to add a bit of whimsy to an outdoor space with an accent from my menagerie. and never too soon to start thinking boot season. i must admit...i wear my kickers all year. but find it a bit more comfortable {temperature wise} to wear 'em in the fall.
been saving these super cool industrial rolling trays {shown below} - just perfect loaded with some rocks to make 'em ready to catch your own line-up of foot gear! see them @ patinaWHITE as i enter in the last couple weekends of my summer cottage being open.
if you're in those boots...remember they are made for walking. so i hope you can swing on by and say hello as we say goodbye to summer. 'cause remember...{fall} itsa coming!
make it a great day everyone!
