greetings show & tell friends! this country girl has forever loved a county fair. and ours was no exception.
that sign {above} signals that once again...hubby and i will make the trek thru the various outbuildings & walk down the midway.
a must see stop is the 4H building. {a few sightings below} both of us were one time proud members. so it's fun to see the present generations still participating in this enriching organization.
of course you can't not love the ferris wheel {below}. i admired from afar...keeping my feet firmly planted on the ground.
wouldn't dream of missin' the arts section. i was fascinated with the many talents and various medias used! if you peek below you will see a mosaic chalkboard...various works of art...another play on mosaic art in the form of a wall full of such drawings. plus don't miss the old door with skeleton keys {below...bottom left} in lieu of it's original panel inserts. fabulous work by all!
which reminds me i have {somewhere} the entry i did back in the day for our county fair that actually made it's way and placed @ the nebraska state fair! i'll update with pic {below} when i shake it down!
next up...is the FFA buildings. have a looksie {below} for some birds of a feather. the thought did cross my mind that my lil MJ may have enjoyed some company had i brought her.
{2} pigs in a blanket. these young 'uns were in the children's barn entertaining the local youth. and of course this big "kid".
there was also a fine looking selection of fresh produce...
and some beautiful garden grown hydrangeas.
of course there was much more than i documented with my camera. pony rides. milkshakes. cheese curds. fun house. caramel apples. tractor show. caramel apples.{there's a good reason i mentioned that one twice...personal fave!}
being's a favorite...i was happy to put away a delicious specimen. and there wasn't a chance for a photo opp...since once i started...i wasn't stopping! so i just gussied up a photo from myrecipes.com {below} just because i feel very strongly about the visual appeal of an image to go w/ the story. that and i just like to create a droplet of drool while typing.
so by now the fair has ended. but i hold tight to the thought that apple season is right around the corner. and that more drops of caramel induced drool will likely be in my future. such small simple pleasures i look forward to! which reminds me of a favorite quote by robert brault...
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” |
