greetings friends! well...i dangled the carrot on my last post about some exciting news i had to share!
so it's w/ great excitement that i FINALLY get to tell ya all about what happened earlier this year. i was a bit elusive on a very big occurrence in our home + world. i was asked to keep it under wraps...which...if you know me...is pretty darn hard to do. because when i am excited about something you can't shut me up for hours. which is why i refer to my blog "writings" as my ramblings. i have a tendency to go on...and on...AND on. oops. there i go.
"gag order" is lifted so let's get started! i was contacted by Ki Nassauer of flea market style magazine {check their fabulous blog HERE} awhile back. they had scouted out our home as a potential feature. i could hardly believe it! such an honor to talk to her much less be considered by such a cool publication for an article. i have to admit though...i did resist for awhile. didn't seem like i could pull it off...running patinaWHITE...life in general AND somehow get our home to my level of "show worthy". {enter in my last post on perfectionism!}
well. we did finally agree on a time for the photo shoot. first week of may. to be shown in their FALL/WINTER edition. and as luck would have it...a run to the mailbox today found my hands on this!
boy. let me tell ya what. nothing like an impending visit from a professional photographer {thank you KIM CORNELISON} and stylist {thank you LISA EVIDON} to get those boxes checked on the {7} year running TO DO checklist!
and i don't believe our home has been or ever will be as clean as it was in the days leading up to their visit. the morning i hit one of the bathrooms w/ avengance & a toothbrush to clean grout....this is what my VERY tolerant husband came home to on the bath door.
i thought it was hilarious. he...did not. but i did stick to my word. and after the whirlwind of activities & chaos w/ the photo shoot...he was allowed to enjoy the "facilities" once again. here was a peek {below} @ my vanity fluffed and camera ready with some of the beautiful florals lisa brought in.
i showed you all a bit of that sink vanity redo earlier this spring. it came together marvelously. and i have FMS magazine to thank for the motivational push in the right direction! the MEN and WOMEN metal signs {above the faucets} were added only a handful of days before they arrived. i found 'em at...none other than a flea market! but for some reason i still find that hubby's or the "men" sink is still my favorite. go figure.
the article was orchestrated like a masterpiece. the brilliant combinations of staging...photos...and editing by the very enthusiastic + well spoken Christine Hofmann-Bourque {her site here}.
as much as i would love to open the flood gate of jabber + photos..again...i must respect the wishes of FMS & their publisher when, for the time being, i only share a peek @ the inner pages of the issue. do some of you recognize the living room mantle {shown below}?
this is one experience i shall not soon forgot. kim and lisa put up w/ me as their constant "shadow". they probably would agree they got the most done in peace when they sent me out to grab their lunches {2} days in a row. if you ask hubby he'd likely smile & say it was a worthwhile cause. and maybe agree that is was worth the sacrifice of the use of his home for quite a few days. but let's just leave that one up to the imagination, ok?
so. now you're saying. alright, beth. enough wettin' our whistles...dangling the carrots...being an outright "tease". where can i see more of this brilliant magazine? {that i myself have barely had a chance to flip through, it's pages are taunting me as i sit and type. my somewhat broken thoughts and typing probably reflects it}.
well...you can check larger newstands/bookstores here in the next few days. word is it can be more widely found starting on august 28th. or swing by FMS magazine's blog for more info on ordering a copy. PLUS i hope {fingers & toes crossed} to have a limited number of copies for sale @ my cottage the last big weekend of summer this labor day...the final days of my cottage being open for the season!
alrighty. i must run. simply to pour over the pages of the highly anticipated arrival of this magazine. hubby glanced at it and stated he would read it when he had a moment later. likely in the private confines of the now "well used and not so clean bathroom". ha! sharing too much private life there maybe. but hey! my life is an open book...now in the format of a magazine!
thanks for popping by! and thanks for sharing the excitement!
