hey there! have to thank everyone who has taken the time to put in a comment for the {PRIZE} necklace giveaway i posted last week. there's still time to have your name thrown in the hat so please peek @ my last blog post for more info!
so onto today! as mentioned previously my dad and step-mom from nebraska stopped by our neck of the woods recently. i'd like to introduce my dad...
as you can see...it's pretty clear where my fondness for feathered friends was established. dad has been in the company of ducks as far back as i can remember. besides that similar interest we both share a love of scrounging for cool stuff. infact he has called on more than one occasion while @ an auction when he spots something he thinks i may like. and he is always spot on!
so when the chance came about to stop in a thrift store in a neighboring town...we took it! i came out w/ some always favorite blue glass ball jars...a couple enamel pins...and some sterling silver cowboy charms. dad got himself some bundles of old field & stream magazines.
then we trekked thru town spotting a farmer's market. it was a brisk day so there were only a handful of vendors...but i walked away with bags of goodies. some produce...patty pan squash...jam and a bag full of indian corn {seen below}
dad is always fascinated w/ what project hubby is working on when he visits. and so when "hubby bill" told "dad bill" about the new 4 wheeler {below}..they couldn't help but take a break & explore the back trails around our home...
and speaking of the old west and my "wild bills" hitting the trail...i thought i'd show you how i incorporated a couple of those treasured cowboy charms i found out thrifting! it was quite a surprise to find these tiny cuties...and i am tickled they worked their way into one of my often worn bauble clusters {below} as a fun reminder of our outting.
and the goodies from the farmer's market have been put to good use as well. i casually popped some indian corn into the {3} ball jars {below} i found @ the thrift for a quick start to some harvest colors in our home. patty pan squash was a market find as well...love the whimsical shape!
and of course...i wouldn't want to miss a chance to show off my feathered friend MJ. the other day she was sitting on my knee when i snapped a picture of her beautiful cloak of feathers. {below}
they played well into the harvest feel of this post. she still comes home late and leaves early. each day we enjoy to the fullest. unsure what the future holds for her as many birds in the area are priming for migration. not to mention holding my breath @ the thought of the hunting season starting this saturday. life is uncertain...but i hope for the best for her. raising this duck has given me more insight on parenting than i was expecting. i have a new found understanding for those empty nesters and the constant worrying. next thing you know she'll be back wanting her laundry done! and i do still make her "bed" everyday. the things we do for our "kids".
hope your start to the week is great! glad you stopped by!
