a hole in my heart...

happy monday everyone! w/ less than a week before my "shady" summer season starts @ my lil white cottage...i have been running @ full tilt. but it would seem that i am not the only one on the "ranch" doing so. a walk thru the lawn the other day & i spied my nemesis...mr. gopher...busy @ work making mounds of earth scattered around the grass. a quick investigation sent me running for the house...not for my rifle {see last post}...but for my camera. and why you ask? well...have a peek @ the artwork he laid forth...

ok. how can that not make you smile? i decided to make peace with him for the time being and leave him alone. hubby on the other hand. all i can say is think caddy shack...bill murray...'nuff said!

well leave it to some critter to be the inspiration behind a post! got me thinking about the "hole in my heart". i know...sounds pretty dramatic but really was just a good title. but i do have other hearts with holes. you might remember the sparkly bracelet giveaway i did back in january. i will have these lil numbers {below} waiting for you this weekend.

a past necklace design i did came to mind as well. and since i sold the original & wanted to have something "fresh" to wet your whistle with...i just emerged from my MAKE room with this lovely in tow. i am pretty tickled with how she turned out! see for yourself {below}.

moving onto last night's creation. after a day spent @ my cottage setting the stage...i had a burst of creative energy. and though there is no hole in this heart {below}...the reclaimed tin accent was in somewhat of a "hole" so i thought i would throw it out there today for you to see.  don't ya "LOVE" it??

now like my gopher friend...i must be movin' along. he doesn't seem to be @ a lack of energy so i will continue on w/ him as my motivation. just so he doesn't leave too many works of "art" in our lawn.

they keep going & going...

why hello! like the energizer bunny...my post today features vintage vessels that keep going & going...BATTERY JARS! being the fan i am of old wavy glass, unique items with a story + the occasional kiss of aqua...i can't help but have a fondness for these old work horses. i have to show a diagram {below} from a website devoted to these fabulous treasures. now i will show my modern reinterpretation on the former energy source! i have one in my bathroom piled with worn game balls {below}. you can pick soft balls like this up @ garage sales & thrift shops for pennies. grouped in ###'s they suddenly have a decorative impact! play on!

 

remember my mention of aqua? well this unusually skinny model is a prime example w/ its lovely color & DELCO raised detail on every side. 

 

with just a hint of aqua...i found this one {below} on my january trip thru the midwest. even in the farmland they are getting increasing difficult to find. sadly i think many battery jars fell victim to young boys & their bb guns. at least that is what i was told by a wise fella once upon a time. 

 

i filled it with faux flowering branches plus bare twigs from my woods. i then tucked araucana eggs around them for a season appropriate accent (or at least thinking of spring in the great north of minn.)! you'll see how pretty it is {below} in a closer view.

these horizontal varieties {below} are sometimes called battery jars...other times i see mention of them being fish tanks. whatever the case may be i like 'em just the same. i have a couple versions of the very thick numbers. you can see the big brother below showcasing some natural accents.

you'll note in the gathering {below} i added the very tiny version - (only 7" long) - on it's end to house a little alarm clock. i love how all the elements pull together...the aqua from the fish floats complements the hued glass...the earthy touch of branches + antlers. very organic...

so there you have it! now...also like the energizer bunny...i must keep going! hopefully i have sparked your interest! thanks for stopping by and until next time...i hope you have a fantastic day!

a happy equation

hello & happy monday everyone! my "happy equation" consists of many things...way too long to list today...but i am going to touch on a few.

first off...i must say that my friends play a huge part of my happiness. and to all those new friends who visited me this past weekend via funky junk interiors...welcome to my little world. i hope you enjoyed popping by & will do so again (often)! i am still in the process of answering questions + getting that paint color figured out! so i look forward to chatting with you all more!

 

and you can sure as heck bet that i haven't forgotten all my faithful followers either! please know that you are the driving force behind my inspiration + creative mojo! so much so that i put on my dickies & headed up to the workshop to do a little dabbling on some new projects yesterday. 

this happy equation {below} was fabricated from a mix of old + new. ceiling tin, in all it's rusty glory, wrapped a piece wood to become the foundation for a contemporary wood cross & a "hopeful" message spelled out from my coveted vintage letter collection. 

 

a recent discovery was the weathered shoe last {below}. i have found & sold many of these thru the years but the message printed on this one is made me giggle. isn't it fabulous? we all need to find our happy medium...
