hey all! i seized the opportunity to make a little trip with my hubby to a favorite stop! i don't mean the mall...i mean willy's salvage! an out of the way spot with just about everything + the kitchen sink!

and with the last little bit of sunshine forecasted for awhile i got some glorious pics to show & tell you all about it!

 

i don't miss the chance to rummage around tall grasses admiring old cars & searching heaping piles of...you guessed it...JUNK! as seen in this fine stash.

what is it about old cars that entrances me? could it be the PATINA?

 

or maybe it's the thought of me hauling my finds in the back of a classic pick-up? a winter restoration project for my beloved?? i can see it with a giant red bow! dear santa...i have been a very very good girl.

 

i think it's the fun details like cool headlights...

or being a blunt edged road warrior!

a good set of rims & tires always catches my eye. and these are no exception with their wide white walls + aqua rimmed wheels!

more color...the emblem isn't too shabby either! 

how's about a space age looking fin tailight? 

 

another heap'n help'n of rusty metal waiting to be ravaged. tetanus shots are a requisite in my profession! so look out...i am about to jump on in!

 

i didn't come up for air until i had some treasures worthy of rescue...and you can see them here {below}.

rusty springs...a rake fragment...a wheel + a crooked piece of scrap metal = project time! we will see what creations are "born" of metal & rust!

and that's it for willy's salvage for today! i am fortunate to have so many great "WILLS" in my life...my dad, hubby & father-in-law all share that namesake...and of course we can't forget the man with all the treasures & inspiration behind today's post! in rust we trust...

for the love of junk

hey everyone!  who says that a little "junk" lying around is a bad thing? not i! infact i have A LOT of junk- but it comes with the territory! i am excited at the upcoming GIANT flea market...oronoco & the thought of attending this year. i haven't made it down that direction for a couple years and hope that it works out for me to add to the growing stash {below}! heck, maybe i should save myself the trip and dig in my own treasure trove!

and here is a small gathering of found "junkets" {below} as i like to call them. a little bit junk & a little bit trinket! check out that FABulous shade frame!  hard to tell now but a steel beauty is waiting under that painted desk! we'll see how long that one takes to get finished....ummm, i mean started! oh, and don't you love the green paint on the window? yep, i sure did too!

just picked up these PINK hued yardsticks...they could not be any cuter! i see frames in the future for these!

and as long as we are on the topic of lovin' junk...i have a few left of the limited GLAM tees that i thought i would offer specially priced to my blog friends before the upcoming weekend...they are a "dirty pink" burnout fabric that is incredibly soft and like a second skin.  and are fitted just right in a more relaxed cut.

i thought i would sign off today with a picture of a junket put into action on my deck {below}. can you spot them hanging out in the back forty pile shown {above}? it's a chicken feeder flipped upside down and now a great candle base...

what can you buy for the price of {1} gallon of gas?

not much these days...right!?  well my friends...let's just say I awoke this morning early and decided to take in {1} rummage sale that caught my attention in the paper.  and to quote..."old wood, antiques & quilts." say no more....I am off! 

now, I don't know about your neck of the woods, but sometimes I happen on sales & thrift stores with items tagged a bit beyond silly high! well, this wasn't such an occasion.  in-fact the prices were so low I thought they were mismarked!  

join me as I revisit my delightful selection of goodies...so reasonably priced that everything shown was just a tad more than the price of one gallon of gas here in town...currently $2.51 a gallon.  subject to change at any moment of course! 

the little cash register flags reflect what I paid...and they looked darn cute too!

I have been wanting a shaving mirror for our bathroom for a long time! I see them now & then but they don't thrill me at $20 and up.  well, this little honey {below} was...yes...$.75.  can you stand it?

now that I have your attention!  take a little looksie at this {below}...so incredibly cute I could do the happy dance! a tiny heart shaped vial on a pin.  in original box.  for the price of one US quarter!

how can it get any better than this, right?  well ladies & gentleman...hold onto your hats...don't be green...and have a gander at my best find EVER!  this old leaded glass window {below}.  not a piece broken and yes, the tags are correct!  this just shows that sometimes the early bird does indeed get the worm!  I pranced like nobody's business when I saw this!  really!  can you blame me?  

 

after that winning stop I decided to call it quits and didn't go to one more sale!  as I scurry around tonight getting things in order for our second weekend open at the hollow I just had to sit myself down and do a little show & tell...this was one outing worth the mention!  thanks for following along on my thrifty adventure!  and remember...sometimes a gallon of gas can go a long way!  happy day!  beth

junking journey...

hello show & tell friends!  I was out on a "junking journey" this past weekend and saw some fabulous flea market goodies!  I found many items for patinaWHITE and the opening of my summer cottage plus some treats for myself!  please join me as I give you a little peek at the grand experience...

vintage african trade beads {below} always catch my eye!  probably because they are often seen in a frosty vintage aqua!  there were rows & rows on this table!

 

have you ever?  nope, me either!  these fabulous very old raised relief borders {below} were already sold when I spotted them...the dealer was nice enough to let me snap a picture to appreciate them later! WoW!

 

be still my heart!  a box loaded with every possible bit and piece of junk jewelry {below}....come and get me in the morning...I'll still be digging!

 

this cupboard {below} stopped me in my tracks!  I just about ran over and kissed it!  but not such a good idea on old painted wood!  seriously though...I adored it.  after stalking the booth for the entire morning I decided it would make a GRAND addition to my next event...I do believe that my chiropractor will thank me for keeping him in business after loading it!

 

rust runneth thru my veins...{above} a trailer filled with chippy white architectural elements, rusty implements...treasures galore...can I move in? 

these packs of vintage favors {below} were so darn cute!  I was going to go back and deliberate on them and it slipped my mind!  at least I can admire them here!

 

tidy stacks of vintage postcards were waiting to be admired {below}...silly, serious..sentimental...pretty well anything your heart desires! 

 

the earthy and natural colors of this vintage victorian photo album were so very very lovely...{below}

 

FaDed GLoRieS...another victorian album {below} aged velvet...embossed roses!  I had to practice such restraint!

 

boxes of buttons to me is like finding a treasure chest!  I can dig for hours in boxes of trinkets!  and I do believe I did so on this occasion!

 

the sweetest fellow had this album {below} of neatly organized chromo lithos from an 1800's book.  the colors and images were AmAziNg!

 

there were so many fantastic things to take in!  I covered alot of ground in two days and met some fun and friendly vendors!  it's always exciting to dust myself off after a long minn. winter and take in a couple days of flea market mania!  and the weather was GORGEOUS too!  with that...I will conclude this junking journey...thanks for touring along with me!
