hi there! so the title of today's post is easier said than done...in my world that is. i am a perfectionist to the Nth degree. which can work for & against me all in the same sentence. especially considering that often times in my line of work, an item is more charming w/ a little "imperfection"...{i prefer the term character}.
my way of thinking was enlightened recently w/ the arrival of a new art charm to patinaWHITE's offering. i paired it w/ an equally as inspiring double bubble. if the words don't spark ya...how's 'bout those fun colors? {see 'em below}
and decided to implement that new thinking when i was working on a project. i was running out of day AND steam. with no diet coke to turn to {45+ days free}...i decided it was time to revise my plan. what started out as me taking a piece of wood & cutting to size to fit a piece of ceiling tin...not to mention trimming said tin to have "perfectly" straight edges...ended with me leaving wood it's original size & painting the now exposed parts a complimentary shade of brown. and the tin? well...i hit the brakes on the snipping notion too. leaving the edges rustic & irregular instead. i then popped a welcoming metal sign on the make do solution.
i put together a little montage of photos {below} of the process as it unfolded.
i'm so happy that my little revisions came about. because i ended up with a one of kind piece that i think is more perfect in it's imperfection than the original plan A. not to mention less of a process! what do you think? have a gander {below}...
yep. the perfect plan that was changed to embrace the imperfect materials does look pretty wonderful if i do say so! and here, as in life, there is another side to the story. well...at least the necklace end of this story! because the cool thing about the art charms i offer is that they all are reversible. the above necklace continues to motivate me with the opposite side {shown below}
so i need to get about my good doings for the day! remembering all the while that that LIFE {and my creations for that matter} do not need to be "perfect" to be wonderful!
on an end note... please be sure to check back next week for a BIG announcement in my little world! can't wait to share something that's been under wraps for months!
have a WONDERFUL day!
OMG i love love that necklace...something i might just have to have...
