hey there everyone! i have some fun things to share with you in the upcoming weeks. so thought i'd start with this fun tidbit.
i'm pretty sure most of you are familiar with READERS DIGEST magazine. i grew up with it readily available around my dad's home. and i have collected many hardcover condensed books thru the years....a small gathering {here}
i usually select these books based on the color + artsy covers they have. some i've removed for various creative projects...still waiting for action {seen below}.
so i was happily surprised when the editors contacted me about a project they spotted of mine. if you happen to have the current issue {seen below}...
and open to the HOME DIGEST section, page 76+77 {as shown}...you may recognize one of my signature creations...a frame i fabricated from many collected yardsticks!
what a cool thing to see my work in the pages of a magazine that i once looked to for some giggles with their LAUGHTER...the BEST MEDICINE category! though i do chuckle a little about the idea of this frame being a "10 minute transformation" {as they titled the category}. not sure where i went wrong but i recall it took MUCH longer!
here's another version i recently created {below}. each one unique in nature...i spend a great deal of time on placement and variation of yardsticks selected. maybe that's where those 10 minutes were spent!
which reminds me of yet another project of mine from the past involving the use of yardsticks. i found a table @ the thrift store upon which i covered w/ a mixed up collage of these units of measure. it looked like this {below} when i was finished.
a big thanks to readers digest for their feature. and a big hello to those of you new to my little corner of the world!
and a note for everyone...please stay tuned for more EXTRA EXTRAs that i will be throwing out there very soon! i have more exciting news and "transformations" to ramble on about! and these will likely take more than 10 minutes!
til then...may your days be wonderful!
yay! that is exciting news...it's like a continuation of what we love (coming new with old) I think of my dad with readers digest as well so there are wonderful vintage memories there. how cool to be featured! I'm always picking up stray yardsticks for some future yet unknown to me project on the horizon. mmmm thanks for the additional inspiration. xo from this cottage to yours!
